It’s wild how different I feel right now compared to 10 a.m. Saturday when the Judge injury news dropped. I genuinely thought the season was over. But today, after the moves they made, it’s clear the Yankees believe in this roster. Honestly, so do I.
The American League is wide open. I truly believe this team can make it back to the World Series. We can beat Detroit. The Astros still scare me, especially with the Correa news. That’s just PTSD talking.
This team is legit. The offense ranks 3rd in the majors in runs scored. The bullpen is now fully reloaded with Bednar, Doval and Jake Bird. That was the biggest need and they got it done.
Fans matter more than people realize. When you make noise and apply pressure on the front office, it can actually lead to action. Maybe that pressure is what pushed Brian Cashman to go off today. I don’t know if they fully listen to us, but they definitely hear us. Today, they responded.
It was a good day to be a Yankees fan. They won the game. They added depth at almost every position besides starting pitching. You could feel the energy shift. The fanbase is alive because we don’t want to win next year. We want to win now.
If Judge comes back healthy, there’s no reason this team can’t make a deep run. A lot will fall on Max Fried and Carlos Rodón. They’ll need to be dominant in October.
Let’s ride.
