I am so freaking sick of losing. The Yankees lost 4–2 to the Rays. They continue a brutal trend of offensive inconsistency and bullpen fatigue.
New York scored twice in the 1st inning thanks to a couple of walks from Rays starter Drew Rasmussen. That was the high point. The Yankees didn’t score again and it’s unacceptable.
Cam Schlittler gave the Yankees a shot but he simply didn’t go deep enough. With the bullpen running on fumes, they needed more than 4.1 innings from their starter. Schlittler allowed 7 hits and 3 earned runs.
Unfortunately he forced the bullpen to cover nearly 5 innings on a night when the relievers were already overworked. 6 pitchers were used in a game where the offense absolutely stunk. The Yankees desperately need bullpen reinforcements. Not one. Not two. At least three.
The Yankees drop to 57-49 and the Toronto Blue Jays are laughing. The trade deadline is Thursday night. Brian Cashman for the love of God make a move.
