The NFL season is upon us!!!!!!
I am going back to my roots that brought me into the sports industry and will be giving weekly fantasy football advice. I will be bringing back a daily fantasy football column released on Friday’s all NFL season long.
But before I can do that we have got to draft our actual teams!!!!
So here I am to break down my favorite QB’s and where you should draft them.
- Patrick Mahomes

USUALLY I would tell you that picking a quarterback early in a fantasy draft is a death sentence. But there are exceptions to every rule. Patrick Mahomes is a different animal. He is a league winner. He is the Baby Goat. Last year I had a team that was abysmal and still won the fantasy championship because of him. He gives you a 50 percent chance to win every week. That is why I would be okay with drafting him early in the 3rd round. The only guy that you could argue to take over Mahomes is……
2. Jalen Hurts

Last year was a coming out party for Jalen Hurts. The Eagles were so good last year that Jalen didn’t have to play in the last 3 weeks of the season. So technically he was 3rd in total points BUT he averaged the most fantasy points per game. His weapons are insane, his offensive line is insane and his rushing numbers make him my second favorite QB. He is someone I would take in the 3rd round as well. I just can’t take him before Mahomes but there is a good chance he ends up as QB #1.
3. Josh Allen

Josh Allen was second in total fantasy points last year despite having a nagging elbow injury in the 2022 season. He is a commodity due to his running and having a rocket arm. If you want to argue that Josh Allen is the second best QB in fantasy I will listen to you. The only reason he is 3rd on my list is due to the fact that Jalen Hurts has had double digit rushing touchdowns in back to back years. I would be tempted to take Josh Allen at the end of the 3rd round.
4. Lamar Jackson

Last year was a strange season for the former NFL MVP. But now that he has his contract taken care of, the sky is the limit for the Baltimore Ravens quarterback. Not only did he get paid but the Ravens also added Odell Beckham Jr. and drafted Zay Flowers. This is the best receiving core that Lamar has ever had. I expect a huge bounce back season for the Baltimore Ravens. Having said all that I would not take Lamar until the end of the fourth round. I think the other 3 QBs are safer.
5. Joe Burrow

Who is cooler than Joe Burrow? The Bengals QB ranked 4th last year in total fantasy points and has arguably the best receiving core in football with Chase, Higgins and Boyd to sling the rock to. As long as his offensive line can keep him upright, it will be another big year him. I would probably not take him until the end of the 5th round, but if you have Higgins or Chase on your roster I would reach a little to have that combination of the two.
6. Justin Herbert

The last time we saw Justin Herbert he was collapsing in the playoffs. But don’t let that have a bad taste in your mouth. Herbert was second in the league last year in passing yards and has the security blanket in Austin Ekeler to throw the ball to. His talent is undeniable and his numbers will keep you in every game. I would gladly take Justin Herbert in the sixth round.
7. Justin Fields

People in the fantasy community LOVE Justin Fields. I get it but it’s hard for me to rank him ahead of Burrow and Herbert. Justin Fields had some HUGE games but he also had some duds. Having said the man ran for over 1,100 yards last year. He is a boom or bust QB for me but when you are drafting a QB in this range you are drafting for upside. I would take Fields in the 7th round. That probably means I’m not gettin Fields in any of my leagues because he is projected way higher.
8. Trevor Lawrence

Trevor Lawrence was 8th in total fantasy points last year and has a new weapon in Calvin Ridley. Is he a sexy pick? No. But when you are looking at upside Trevor Lawrence is a guy that could take the next step this year. He is the last guy I would take before waiting until the 10th round of the draft. I would draft Trevor in the 8th round.
