Life After KP: Day One

We’re almost a full 24 hours of the infamous “Woj Bomb” from 3:50pm yesterday of the Knicks agreeing to trade Kristaps Porzingis to the Dallas Mavericks. The reverberations and developments post trade have been just as captivating since.

Not only do the Knicks play tonight at MSG, their opponents happen to be the Boston Celtics and Kyrie freaking Irving! Oh, and Kyrie has made quite some noise today regarding his free agency and commitment to the Celtics…

There’s this:

And this:

The Knicks are going to be linked to Kyrie until the ink dries sometime this summer, and until that happens, there will always be scintilla of hope attached for the Knicks. However, given the removal of KP from the equation, the odds better be higher than a scintilla…

Expect Kyrie to get LOUD ovations and cheers throughout the night at the Garden. Much like a potential conquering hero. You know? The one we thought “The Unicorn” was supposed to be.

Our sights have been adjusted to July 1st, and I’m terrified. The pessimist in me knows the Knicks are going to strike out on Irving and Kevin Durant and / or get a draft pick outside of the top three taking them out of the Duke boys (Zion and Barrett) and Ja Morant guarantee. However, like that scintilla of hope, I can’t help but take my eyes off this beautiful disaster that is the New York Knicks.
