BRING ON BOSTON

Tonight was everything I could have hoped for. We had a bunch of questions answered and they were all positive. Severino answered whether or not he could be relied upon. Through 4 innings he was exceptional. The defense made a couple bad plays, but to give up ZERO hits after his debacle in last year’s Wild Card is all you can ask for. The fifth inning you could tell Sevy was starting to slow down but he got a well deserved standing ovation as he left the mound.

Judge is fully back. That home run he hit in the first inning was vital to tonight’s win. I know we can get runs from everywhere in the lineup but it’s amazing to see #99 fully healed. He is the straw that stirs the drink, the heart of team, and an outstanding teammate. Even his throw from right field when he got tested in the fourth showed the A’s fast not to mess with him.

Now onto the decision in the fifth. I, for one, was clamoring for Chad Green. I thought I was going to defecate myself when Dellin Betances came in the game. I questioned Boone’s sanity and whether or not I was dreaming. Betances was LIGHTS OUT. His slider looked outstanding and he looked poised throughout the two innings. Aaron Boone will not be questioned by me after that call. I would have been the first one to call for his head if Dellin blew it, so I’ll take a step back and trust our manager.

Stanton CAN hit dingers in the October. I know it was a wild accusation from the haters (there are many) but it was in fact Giancarlo’s first playoff game. He probably was just as nervous as I was. Just kidding. The guy is a monster and I still can’t believe a human being can hit a ball that far.

The only question we still have to answer is the defense. It’s shaky to say the least, but I guess that’s what we get when we have the best lineup in baseball. Kudos to Cashman for going out and getting Adeiny Hechavarria. That catch he made in the sixth was unreal.

So now we ship up to Boston. I expect to see Happ on the mound but if it’s Tanaka then mum’s the word. I’m now going to take a deep breath as we get prepared for the best rivalry in sports. Have a good night folks. The journey is just beginning.
