The New Core Four

The 2018 All Star Game is in DC this year and the Pinstripes will be present. As I was watching the selection show something dawned on me. The Yankees have often been noted as having the New Murderer’s row, which I think is a fair think to say, but the way this season looks, we are witnessing something unique happening. The New Core Four. The Yankees are sending four men to the Bronx who, together could be a core four to a dynasty. The four men who will be heading to the nations capitol are…

Gleyber Torres 2B

The rookie phenom has smashed the cover off the ball, been defensively good and a leader in the clubhouse. The young stud has drawn comparisons to Javier Baez and some have gone as far as to compare him to a young Derek Jeter. Gleyber is batting .294 with 42 RBIs and 15 dingers. He is a born leader and gets to play alongside the best in the world in DC.

Aroldis Chapman CP

The Cuban Missile Crisis is heading to the Nation’s capital. That sounded a little cryptic but it’s all good. With the emergence of his damaging slider he has gone back to unhitable status. Aroldis will make his 5th all star appearance and is having an incredible season with 24 saves and a 1.42 ERA. He will be around thru 2021 making him a permanent fixture in the bullpen that can dominate hitters.

Luis Severino SP

Our Ace! Sevy has a 14-2 record (best in baseball) 2.12 era (second best in AL) and a lot of other impressive stats including best win-loss %. It’s safe to say when he is on the mound it is hard to beat the bombers. Severino has emerged as one of the games best pitchers and will head to his second straight all star game and could potentially start this one.

Starting for the AL: Aaron Judge RF

Our leader and our best player in my opinion. The verdict is in and he is guilty of heading to his second straight All Star game in two years. Either way Judge has been great this year hitting .278 with the second most HRs in baseball with 24 and a spectacular OBP of .396 and 58 RBIs. It is safe to say Judge has shown he is consistently one of the best players in all of baseball and the fans agree as he will start for the AL in the all star game.

As for the core four aspect the Yankees have tons of spectacular players like Giancarlo, Andujar, Betances and more but four guys consistently stick out as reliable talents and in my head the Yankees couldn’t be luckier then to have produced 3/4 of these guys and to have so much talent on the team. It’s a good time to be a fan in the Bronx!
