Yesterday was yet another example of the fight in the 2018 Bombers. CC didn’t have his best stuff. Additionally, they made FIVE errors in the field and their lead 2-1 lead evaporated. It was 5-2 late in the game and it looked like it was over.
But it never really is over with this team. The infinite power, heart and relentlessness of these at-bats can not go unnoticed. Brett Gardner deserves all the credit in the world for his two home runs. But so do these Baby Bombers.
Gleyber Torres and Miguel Andujar accounted for 3 of the Pinstripe’s errors. These are growing pains that they will have as they learn how to play at the Major League level. However, both of their approaches at the plate are phenomenal. They look like polished veterans the way they seem to stay calm when they’re in the batter’s box.
It may sound cliche, but these really are the games that separate the boys from the men. The Baby Bombers are growing up in front of our eyes, and it’s so much fun to watch.
I would be remiss not to mention the bullpen. Holder, Robertson, Betances and Chapman pitched 5 innings of lights out baseball against arguably the best lineup in baseball. All in all, it was a great night in the Bronx.
