Mannnnnnnnnnnnnnn, I hope I’m wrong but I have a bad, bad feeling the Giants are going to “screw up” on Thursday night. By screwing up, I mean not taking a quarterback with the second pick. I’m sure Saquon Barkley, Bradley Chubb and Quenton Nelson will be very good NFL players and worthy of a high pick but not number two overall pick worthy.
I love Eli Manning, and I will defend that man to the death, but it is time to find an heir apparent. In a perfect world, Sam Darnold drops to two and the Giants sprint up to the podium and announce the kid from Southern Cal. Hell, the Giants could like Baker Mayfield or Josh Rosen more and I’d still be completely fine with it. Even if Head Coach Pat Shurmur swears he can turn Davis Webb into that heir apparent and / or feels Eli has a few more years left in the tank, the Giants still should NOT pass on a QB. Combine the decline in Eli’s play the past few years and the idea that next year’s QB class stinks, the time is now to setup the future for Big Blue.
There’s been a TON of smoke that the Giants and General Manager, Dave Gettleman, love Saquon. They’ve also been linked to Chubb and Nelson. Just please, Dave, for the love of God, don’t take any of them at number two. If you don’t have any conviction in those QBs, please trade out of two. There has to be teams (see: Bills, Dolphins, Cardinals, Patriots) desperate to move up and will give you a haul to do so.
McShay: I've heard very strongly that there are important people in the building who believe in Saquon Barkley and being a physical, run-first team. Barkley can be the face of the team for the next 10 years. "It feels inevitable that Saquon Barkley is going to be a NY Giant."

I think Saquon is going to be the pick but I hope I’m wrong. He’ll probably be great for the Giants, I just think its the wrong move, at the wrong pick. I’m worried and I’m officially bracing myself. I’ll also probably be buying a Saquon jersey just like I bought a DAVID WILSON one…. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
