Predictions for the 2018 MLB Season

AL MVP: Mike Trout

When healthy, Trout is the best player in baseball and it isn’t even close. The Angels should be in the mix for a playoff spot for the first time since 2014, with the resigning of Justin Upton and additions of Shohei Ohtani, Ian Kinsler and Zack Cozart, and Trout will be the catalyst of it all.

Keep an eye on: Mookie Betts, Carlos Correa

NL MVP: Nolan Arenado

Two top five NL MVP finishes and five straight Gold Gloves is what Arenado’s resume currently looks like in his first five seasons in the MLB. If he were in a bigger market or on the east coast this man would be a God. After leading the Rockies to a playoff berth last season, Arenado is poised to enter his prime, only 26 years old, and have another monster season. His value goes far beyond his 95/33/114/.290 line with his glove and this is the year he gets rewarded with an MVP,

Keep an eye on: Trea Turner, Kris Bryant

AL Cy Young: Chris Sale

A weak September by Sale cost him the award last year to Corey Kluber. A workhouse like Sale is so rare in the game of baseball these days and it might be long time before we see another 300K season from a pitcher. Look for Sale to push 18-20 wins, above 250K, ERA below 3.25 and a WHIP around 1 as he captures his first Cy Young award.

Keep an eye on: James Paxton, Justin Verlander

NL Cy Young: Jacob deGrom

Off his first 200 inning season, deGrom is poised to be the third candidate who joins Max Scherzer and Clayton Kershaw in the yearly NL Cy Young race. Not the most glamorous name, especially with Noah Syndergaard getting most of the attention, but de Grom’s workman like game could be rewarded with some silverware on a better Mets team and bullpen this season.

Keep and eye on:  Aaron Nola, Zack Godley

AL Rookie of the Year: Lucas Giolito

Keep and eye on: Willie Calhoun, Franciso Mejia

NL Rookie of the Year: Ronald Acuna

Keep an eye on: Scott Kingery, Nick Senzel

Managers of the Year: AJ Hinch (AL); Bud Black (NL)

Division Winners:Yankees/Indians/Astros

Wild Cards: Red Sox/Angels

Division Winners: Nationals/Cubs/Dodgers

Wild Cards: Cardinals/Rockies

WORLD SERIES: Yankees over Cubs in seven
