Sunday at the Honda Classic Lived Up to the Hype

It took 19 holes but Justin Thomas adds another trophy to his case.  It was an electric Sunday down in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.  Today had everything golf fans could ever want.

Tiger got people riled up early making 3 birdies in his first 8 holes.  He would eventually come back down to Earth on the back nine but it was good to see Tiger in the mix on a Sunday again.

Tiger struggled on the three hole stretch known as “The Bear Trap” consisting of the par-3 15th, the par-4 16th, and the par-3 17th.  Water is in play on all three holes and Tiger shot 8 over par on the Bear Trap this week and he hit it in the water on 15 twice, and made bogey on both 15 and 17 yesterday.

Then it was a four man battle for most of the day between Luke List, Justin Thomas, Tommy Fleetwood, and Alex Noren.

Fleetwood and Noren would both come out the other end of the Bear Trap, or I guess the Bear Trap’s ass, over par.

It came down to Thomas and List on the 18th.

Justin Thomas would step up to his birdie attempt needing to make it to force a playoff with List.

The sudden death playoff would be a little underwhelming with List making a par on the par-5 18th and Thomas being able win with a birdie.  Great start to the golf season.

Next week is the WGC – Mexico Championship at Club de Golf Chapultepec in Mexico City.  Purse is $10,000,000 so most of the big names will be playing.
