Why The Kristaps Porzingis Injury Actually Is The Best Thing For The Knicks

Yesterday was a terrible day for Knicks fans. CaddieYard chronicled it in his lastest article. Porzingis goes down with an ACL tear, and probably won’t be back for the season. But let me spin this for you. Because I am not too distraught over it.

Yes, I love the Unicorn. He has graced the NBA with a unique presence, and is a sign of hope for the future of the Knicks. Having said that, this season was already a wash before the season started.

It’s almost identical to the Odell Beckham Jr. injury. It was clear from the beginning of the NFL season that the Giants offensive line was so bad that the GMEN had no shot at a title. So was it the worst thing that Big Blue went 3-13 and ended up with the 2nd overall pick in the 2018 draft? No, it was actually a blessing in disguise.

Now it’s relatively early in the NBA season and the Knicks were already a dumpsterfire without KP. Now their roster looks worse than any team in the NBA and the best thing about it is they are 9 games under .500! They are only 5.5 games better than the Mavericks right now who hold the worst record. Now we have a serious shot at getting a top 5 pick and taking one of these guys from the best draft class in recent memory. I would be estatic with any of the following: DeAndre Ayton, Marvin Begley, Michael Porter, Luka Doncic, or Trae Young. These are all guys that could seriously change an NBA franchise.

In conclusion, the Knicks don’t even have to pretend to tank as the season unravels in front of us. The worst thing to be in the NBA is mediocre and self awareness is wildly important. Since Jim Dolan definitely doesn’t own a mirror, the Knicks can take Ls no matter how hard they want to win. #TankSeason
