Kristaps Porzingis Selected to His First All-Star Team

For the first time in his three-year career, KP has been selected to the Eastern Conference All Star Team. The Knicks’ star is averaging 23.3 points per game thus far, notching 6.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game.

Porzingis’ All Star selection makes him the lone New York Knick to represent the team this year. Though Enes Kanter put up a fight in the fan voting, he ultimately did not get the nod.

Starting over Porzingis will be Sixers’ center Joel Embiid. Embiid has undoubtedly been instrumental in Philadelphia’s early success, but he also has missed 8 games, and averages less blocks, and more turnovers than Kristaps Porzingis. So yeah, hopefully this article gets noticed by Embiid so we can be the subject of his next Twitter rant.

Regardless of whether or not he starts, Porzingis being named an all star is great news for the Knicks, and gives the fans something to smile about in a season full of ups and downs. If Porzingis is able to keep up the high level play, and the Knicks can successfully upgrade at the point guard position, I see no reason why the Knicks can’t make a push for the 7 or 8 seed.

Tough to be considered an All Star if you are always hurt…..toughen up KP and you could be a star.
