Kentucky vs. The Field

Good morning friends. I grew up a big Duke fan, watching games each year arguing with my older brother (Tarheel fan) which team had the better pieces to win a National Championship.  But this article is not about an ACC team.  This piece is about the behemoth of men at Kentucky. I just wanted to prove to you I wasn’t biased, because Mike Dunleavy’s my dad.

Every year John Calipari brings in the best talent in the country and does his best to coach kids he probably won’t be sweating on come next fall.  However, his strategy has proves to work making the National Championship game in two of the past three seasons. The Wildcats look like men among Girl Scouts each time they take the floor. The number 2 NBA prospect, Karl Anthony-Towns is has some general managers (Christian) pondering on whether they should take him over Jalil Okafor.  But the train does not end at the 7 foot 19 year old.  Calipari somehow convinced the Harrison brothers to go back to school (to prove their dad they are no fools!) for another year who in my opinion aren’t even the best guards on the squad.  Trey Lyles and Willie Cauley Stein are too big and too strong for anyone the Wildcats will face.  Fun fact: Kentucky is the 2nd tallest basketball team in the country. Did I mention that included the NBA? Did I mention that includes the CYO team that I watch every Saturday afternoon? I could sit here all day telling you about match ups and what not, but let’s get real: the only team that can beat Kentucky is Kentucky. It hasn’t happened yet, and me and Stevie don’t see it in the future.

Peace nerds.
